Six layers. Twenty to thirty minutes alone in a room.
The interview is conducted by an AI built on Aaron's prompt. Same prompt every man runs. Aaron reads the transcript afterwards if you choose to send it.
Most men don’t make it past the second layer. The silence, if you don’t send it, is the answer.
The prompt itself (read it if you want to know what you’re walking into)
Layer 1 — The Surface Stuck. What are you doing with your life right now. What are you not doing that you keep telling yourself you want to do. The story you have been telling yourself about why. How long you have been telling that story.
Layer 2 — The Loop. What keeps repeating. The same shape of failure. The same kind of relationship. The same point where you stop. What you get out of keeping the loop alive, because no loop this old survives without a payoff you have refused to admit.
Layer 3 — The Inheritance. Whose voice is in your head when you hesitate. What your father permitted himself to do, and what he did not. What your mother feared and how you absorbed it without being taught it directly. Who you became in response. Who you never got to become because of it.
Layer 4 — The Shadow. What you know about yourself that you would not want anyone to know. The version of you that shows up only when no one is watching. What you do in private that contradicts what you say in public. The specific behavior, the specific thought, the specific hour of the day.
Layer 5 — The Wound. The event you still replay. The moment that installed the belief you have been running on since. How old you were. Who was in the room. What you decided about yourself, or about other people, or about the world, in the minutes right after.
Layer 6 — The Unsaid. What you have never said out loud to anyone. The confession. The desire you called dangerous and buried. The grief you never let yourself name. The anger you swallowed to stay loved.
Layers 1 and 2 give you multiple-choice options written in plain language. Layers 3 and 4 taper to your own words. Layers 5 and 6 you write yourself, into the silence the interview holds.
This is not a clinical service. If you are in active crisis — current intent to harm yourself or another, or ongoing abuse you are inside of right now — this is not the right instrument. Call 988 (US) or your local emergency line. Excavation is not a substitute for emergency care.
Once you begin, the interview proceeds at your pace. If you have to step away, your progress is held on this device — come back to this page and the interview waits where you left it. Nothing leaves your browser unless you send it.
